Deadline: 10 Jan. 2013
PhD position in Molecular Genetics at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Grens Institute, Stockholm University. Reference number Dnr 16/2012. Deadline for applications: januari 10, 2013.
ResearchBacteria use many strategies to overcome the host defence. Pathogenic bacteria may trigger host cell signaling pathways, down regulate immune responses and cause cell damages. We try to further understand molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and host responses during infection. We investigate gene regulation in the cells upon bacterial infection and identify virulent factors that contribute to the dynamic process of bacterial disease. The project will include both cellular and molecular methods, as well as in vivo infection studies.
QualificationsThe suitable candidate should have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree with a solid background in medicine, biomedicine, cell and molecular biology as well as an interest in microbiology. He/she should be highly motivated to pursue a research career. Previous research experience in molecular biology, protein over expression/purification and immunology field are considered merits. Good knowledge of written and spoken English is a prerequisite.
Terms of Employment
