Chevening Scholarships are for talented people who have been identified as potential future leaders across a wide range of fields; including politics, business, the media, civil society, religion, and academia. Applicants should be high calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership. Chevening Scholars come from over 118 countries worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU), and this year the Scholarships will support approximately 600 established or emerging leaders. There are over 41,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.The Scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one-year Master’s degree. 



Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan





The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan provides opportunities for Commonwealth students and academics to pursue advanced academic study at graduate level in other Commonwealth countries. Scholarships are intended for men and women, in equal measure, of high intellectual promise who may be expected to make a significant contribution to their own countries on their return from study abroad. Around 1000 students come to the UK each year under this scheme. Scholarships for undergraduate studies are available only in the most exceptional cases.

UCL - United World Colleges - Undergraduate International Outreach Bursaries

University College London (UCL) and United World Colleges (UWC) have agreed to collaborate in a scheme to enable graduates of a UWC, who are financially unable to study in the UK, to pursue full-time undergraduate studies at UCL. With this scheme UCL supports the aims of UWC to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Two bursaries are available annually for UWC-nominated students who have firmly accepted their UCL admissions offer. 
Applicants must:
  • Be a final-year IB diploma student attending a United World College (or completed their studies in the preceding calendar year - candidates from Waterford Kamhlaba UWC only).
  • Apply for admission through UCAS by January for a full-time undergraduate degree programme of study at UCL and firmly accept your UCL offer.
  • Be assessed as paying overseas tuition fees; and
  • Lack the financial means necessary to pursue undergraduate degree studies at UCL.
Each bursary will consist of full tuition fees and a maintenance allowance for the duration of the student’s programme of study, as well as international economy air travel to/from the UK at the beginning and end of the bursary-holder’s degree programme. The maintenance allowance will normally rise each year in line with inflation but at the absolute discretion of UCL. In addition, the bursary includes an allowance (on request and up to a specified maximum sum per bursary holder) to permit two members of the bursary-holder’s family to attend their graduation ceremony. Annual renewal of the bursary is subject to good academic progress by the student.

UK:Graduate Scholarships At Oxford University

Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme:

Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July.
The main criteria for selecting award winners are:
 l) consistently excellent academic records. 
2) genuine financial need. 
3) admission to a highly reputable university or programme of study. 
4) relevance of the field of study to AKDN’s focus areas. 

Candidates are also evaluated on demonstrating thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans, their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment. Applicants are expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.

Preference is given to students under 30 years of age.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds awards PhD fellowships to outstanding junior scientists (max. age: 27 years) who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately 3 years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.The fellowship comprises a competitive monthly stipend that is initially granted for 2 years and that can be extended for up to another 12 months. Participation in international scientific conferences is also supported. The Claes Isacson Scholarship

The Claes Isacson Scholarship is awarded annually and amounts to USD 20,000 which may be awarded to one student or split between several students focusing on subjects related to the shipping industry and/or the marine insurance business.
The applicant must be 18 years of age or older and must have commenced studies at a university or equivalent educational institution focusing on subjects related to, or of importance to, the shipping industry and/or the marine insurance business.The applicant should outline future career plans and describe the extent he/she wishes to work in the shipping and marine insurance business.

The IDB Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology

The Programme offers scholarships for study and research at two levels: 

(i) 3-year Ph.D. study/ research
(ii) 6-12 months of Post-Doctoral research.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must meet the following basic criteria:
  • Age not over 
  1. 35 years for Ph.D. study
  2.  40 years for Post-Doctoral research;
  • Attached to a research/academic/development institution in science and technology in their respective country;
  • Must possess the required academic background in the related field of their proposed study/research and have some professional/research experience in the respective field;

The Rhodes Scholarships

A Rhodes Scholarship covers all University and College fees, a personal stipend and one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the Scholarship, as well as an economy flight back to the student's home country at the conclusion of the Scholarship.
The following eligibility criteria apply to all applicants for the Rhodes Scholarships: Citizenship & residency: Each applicant must fulfil the citizenship and residency requirements of the Rhodes constituency for which they are applying.  Please check the detailed information carefully via the country links. 
Age: Age limits vary between constituencies and range from a minimum age limit of 18 to a maximum of 28 by 1 October of the year following selection. In most constituencies, the age limit is 24 or 25. Please check carefully the specific age requirements for your constituency before applying.  Successful candidates will arrive in Oxford the October following the selection process.  The Scholarship may not normally be deferred.
Education: All applicants must have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of a bachelor's degree by the October following election. Academic standing must be sufficiently high to ensure admission to the University of Oxford, which has very competitive entry requirements, and to give confidence that Rhodes Scholars will perform to a high academic standard in Oxford. Individual constituencies may specify a 1st or equivalent.  Some constituencies require an undergraduate degree to have been taken within the constituency of application.

Clarendon Fund

The Clarendon Fund offers around 140 full scholarships every year to academically excellent graduate students from all around the world. Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and potential across all degree-bearing subjects at graduate level at the University of Oxford. The scholarships cover tuition and college fees as well as a generous grant for living expenses, and all graduate applicants who apply for study at the University by the January deadline, in their respective year of entry, will be automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship funding.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme

The scholarship will cover 100% of University and college fees and a grant for living costs (of at least £11,376). Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.
You must not be at present living or studying in a developed country and must not have undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country. You must also be willing to confirm in writing that neither you, nor your family, are able to pay for you to study in the UK (you will be asked to confirm this if you are nominated for the scholarship by Oxford; you do not need to provide confirmation in advance).
You must be willing to return to your home country as soon as your award comes to an end.
If you do not apply as detailed above by the deadline, you will not be considered for this scholarship.

The size and duration of awards vary according to each scholar's circumstances. In recent years these have ranged from partial awards (for example, a contribution of £3,000) to fully-funded scholarships (covering all fees and living costs).

You must be a national of and ordinarily resident in Pakistan. You should be intending to return to Pakistan once your course is completed. If you have previously studied outside Pakistan you will not normally be considered.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, financial need and the potential social contribution made by the applicant on their return to Pakistan.

Bahria University Pakistan Scholarships

TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS AND THEIR ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
3.  The eligibility criteria for different types of scholarships are as under:
a. Advanced Merit Scholarship
(1)        Every year Bahria attracts the brightest pool of students. In order to ensure that the most talented students enter our gates, we have introduced our advanced merit program. Freshmen who have topped their respective Boards will be awarded this scholarship which will entail full tuition fee waiver for the first semester. However, continuation of this in the subsequent semesters will require the student to achieve a GPA of at least 3.75.
b. Merit Scholarship
(1)        For encouraging the students to achieve and maintain good academic record, Merit Scholarships are offered to the outstanding students of the Bahria University. All students achieving GPA of 4.0 in Semester Examination will be awarded Merit Scholarship equal to 50% of Tuition Fee of the following semester. If there is no student with GPA of 4.0, then the top scorer obtaining a GPA of at least 3.75 will be awarded the same Scholarship. In case of a tie, the student with the higher percentage will get the Scholarship. In case of double tie, all the students will be awarded the Scholarship.
(2)        If there is no student with a GPA of 3.75 then the top scoring student with a minimum GPA of 3.50 will be awarded this Scholarship equal to 40% of the Tuition Fee of the following semester. In case of a tie, the student with the higher percentage will get the Scholarship. In case of double tie, all the students will be awarded the Scholarship.
(3)        Students of all programs are eligible for Merit Scholarship except MBA Executive Program.
c. Financial Assistance Scholarship  
(1)        Bahria University has a very caring policy for those students who have serious financial problems to the extent that it may be difficult for them to continue their studies without some financial assistance.  Fresh entrants to Bahria University may submit their request for scholarship when they deposited their fee after becoming bonafide students of BU. However, already enrolled students are also eligible to apply.  The scholarship once granted in this category remains available to the students for the entire degree programme provided their performance does not fall below CGPA 2.50.
(2)        Following are the eligibility criteria to apply for Financial Assistance Scholarship Program:
  1. Student shall appear before the Central Selection Committee (CSC) to justify financial assistance. Procedure for submission of application is given on Bahria University web site.
  2. Students have to obtain minimum 2.5 GPA in the first semester and at least 2.5 CGPA in the remaining semesters. If the students fail to maintain 2.5 CGPA in the remaining semesters their scholarship shall be withheld till such time they improve upon their grades.
  3. For fresh intake, results of their Matric and FA/FSc. will be considered for award of scholarship.
  4. The students should have at least 80% attendance.
  5. Students of all programs are eligible for Financial Assistance Scholarship Program except MBA Professionals, MBA Pharma, MBA Maritime & MBA Executives.
d. Indigent Scholarship.        Four needy students from each Campus i.e. Karachi Campus & Islamabad Campus, with a minimum GPA/CGPA of 2.0 will be considered for the award of Indigent Scholarship on the recommendation of the Campus DGs/Directors.
MONITORING THE BENEFICIARIES OF SCHOLARSHIPS
4.   The Central Scholarship Committee of Bahria University will formally review cases of all scholarship holders every semester for monitoring academic progress as per scholarship policy. It will submit its recommendations to the Rector Bahria University Islamabad for the continuation or otherwise of the scholarship. The respective Campus Directors will send complete semester result of all beneficiaries, to the Central Scholarship Committee. Scholarships of the students, whose performance falls short of the required parameters, may be recommended for discontinuation of the scholars.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
5.    Eligibility of students for scholarship shall be subject to following conditions:
  1. Students of Bahria University in any semester are eligible, subject to the conditions as indicated with respect to their respective category.
  2. The students have to follow the academic road map with full load.
  3. Students already in receipt of one scholarship/fee concession are ineligible to apply for any other scholarship.
  4. Progress of Financial Assistance, Indigent and Merit Based Scholarships will be reviewed every semester as per details given in “Monitoring the Beneficiaries of Scholarships”.
  5. Students awarded FAS and Indigent Scholarship will be required to undertake on campus job for 10 hours per week specified by Directors/HODs.
  6. Student availing Naval Award will be considered for Merit Scholarship only.
  7. Students of MPhil & PhD Programmes will not be considered for any Scholarship.
  8. Non-merit Scholarship will not be available to students whose education has been fully or partially sponsored by any individual or organization.
CHANGES IN THE POLICY
6. The policy document is subject to changes/amendments from time to time depending upon the future requirements and status of funds available for the grant of scholarship.
7. The new scholarship policy will stand promulgated w.e.f 15 August-2011.This supersedes all the scholarship policies issued previously.
