UVT-EXT-2013-0055
The Tilburg Graduate Law School (TGLS) of Tilburg Law School is committed to training top law students from around the globe whose academic work helps to solve today's societal problems, to address new legal challenges and to become excellent researchers. As such, the TGLS is responsible for the training and guidance of its Research Master students and of the PhD researchers. TGLS is now offering six positions.

- are crucial factors in the process of the scientification of the law - a process in which Tilburg plays a pioneering role. Although law is much less of a universally integrated academic discipline than, for instance, economics, significant strides have been taken over the years, first towards internationalization, and now towards interdisciplinarity.
- afford new opportunities to make our academic activities relevant in the public debate.
You are an outstanding student, who has an excellent command of English and who has completed a Master in Law or a Master in relating multidisciplinary fields like Law and Economics, Law and Technology, Law and Labour Law, Politics and Public Administration or Victimology. Research Master's program students are especially encouraged to apply.
Tilburg University is rated among the top of Dutch employers and has excellent terms of employment. The selected candidates will initially be appointed for 16 months. Two Research Fellow positions are available from March 2013 onwards to work on the visual perception of shape and material. These Early Stage Researcher positions re funded by the European Union as part of the PRISM Marie Curie Initial Training Network (https://sites.google.com/site/prismitn).
The PRISM network researches how the brain represents the richly detailed visual ‘look and feel’ of surfaces and objects in our everyday surroundings. We aim to shed light on how we perceive the 3D shapes, material properties and illumination in the scenes we encounter as we move through the world. In order to do this, we use a combination of behavioural techniques, neurophysiology, brain imaging and computational modelling. The successful applicants will combine behavioural paradigms to assess 3D shape and material perception, with state-of-the-art fMRI analysis and computational modelling. The aim of the Training Network is to provide a multi-disciplinary research training at the interface between psychology, neuroscience, computer science, engineering and industrial design to conduct basic research and develop advanced applications
To qualify for the post, by the time of appointment, applicants must not have more than 4 years research experience since gaining a University degree which would entitle them to embark on doctoral studies in the country the degree was received.
Informal enquiries should be directed to: Dr Andrew Welchman, School of Psychology, University of Birmingham, email: a.e.welchman@bham.ac.uk
Salary (which will be subject to UK taxation) will be at the EU Marie Curie rate of a basic salary of £37205 (no family) & £40020 (with family and or children)
Applicants should complete an application form, available from the website detailed below, provide an up-to-date CV and letter of motivation, together with the names of three scientific referees.
