UK: PhD Studentships for October 2013 Entry

Deadline: 1 Feb. 2013 (studentships)
                 18 Jan. 2013 (Admissions)

University of Sheffield -Department of Economics
The Department of Economics has PhD scholarships available for 2013 entry.
We have been awarded an ESRC studentship as part of the Economics cluster of training pathways within the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre, a major collaboration between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York with a total of 48 ESRC studentships per year over 5 years. The WR DTC is one of the largest consortia in the country and offers a wealth of supervisory expertise across the social sciences as well as numerous training opportunities, particularly focused upon maximising the social and economic benefits of your research. Students will work together with others studying in their discipline from across Yorkshire and have lots of opportunities to develop their Interdisciplinary networks and expertise.
The studentships are available on a 1+3 or a +3 basis in the following pathways:
Economics
Health Economics.
Students entering either pathway on a 1+3 basis should have (or expect to receive) at least a 2.1 degree qualification in Economics, or a degree with a high Economics content.
Students entering either pathway on a +3 basis should have (or expect to receive) a good Masters level qualification in Economics, or a Masters with a high Economics content.
We are also able to nominate applicants for studentships in Advanced Qualitative Methods (4 awards are available across the DTC). Students wishing to apply for these awards should hold the same qualifications as listed above.
Applicants can also indicate on the same application form whether they also wish to compete for a University of Sheffield Faculty Studentship, of which we have 1 to award in Economics.
Deadline for studentship applications: Friday 1st February 2013 at 12:00 noon.  Candidates must have applied for a place on the department's PhD programme before they can apply for a studentship.  Recommended deadline for applying for a place on the PhD programme: 18th January 2013.  For further details about the application procedure please contact David Roe (David.Roe@sheffield.ac.uk).
