UK: Doctoral Position in Image Sensors and Sensing

• Early Stage Researchers must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers and not yet have been awarded a doctoral degree. This is measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the research training is provided, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate is envisaged.

• Furthermore, at the time of recruitment, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date.

• A first class honours degree in Engineering (General or Electrical/Electronics/Communication), Computer Science or equivalent,

• Experience in either FPGA based software design (using VHDL or Verilog) or analogue circuit design. Alternatively, advanced coursework may be accepted as evidence of skills required.

• Good written and spoken communication skills – English skills as required by University regulations

• Excellent record of academic and/or professional achievement.

• Publications in international conferences or international journals

• Experience in the field of CMOS image sensors

• Experience of FPGA based driver design for sensors

• Experience of Cadence or any other chip design software

• Experience of Matlab

• Advanced knowledge of any programming language (for example C, C++, Java)

• Experience with digital cameras and related image processing

Award Value

Annual living and mobility allowance will be up to €67,200 - the exact value of the fellowship will depend upon employer deductions, personal circumstances and the applicable exchange rate.
