Finland: Doctoral Candidate Aalto University -School of Engineering

The research group of HVAC, Department of Energy Technology at the Aalto University School of Engineering is presently looking for a doctoral candidate.
  • M.Sc (Tech.) (or equivalent), good grades (mean>3)
  • Familiarity with the energy technology of buildings and with some dynamic simulation tool
  • Language skills: Finnish and/or English
  • An application letter that includes at least:
  • contact information of the applicant,
  • names and contact information of two senior academics available for reference per e-mail,
  • A complete curriculum vitae (CV) describing education and employment history,
  • Degree certificate of the Master’s degree, including a transcript of studies.

The candidate will be appointed as a researcher for the AEF-research program / Energy Efficient Townhouse. The objective of the research is to find out the cost and energy-efficient solutions for a novel townhouse concept, subject to given requirements for indoor environment. The key research methods are dynamic simulation and multi-objective optimization. The work may also include the development and implementation of computational models for new energy technology.
The work will be done under supervision and instruction of Prof. Kai Siren and D.Sc Kari Alanne. The contract period will be four (4) years and the work can be started immediately.
Qualifications:
The salary for a doctoral candidate follows the Aalto University salary system. In addition to the salary the contract includes occupational health benefits, and Finland has a comprehensive social security system. The annual total workload of research and teaching staff at Aalto University is 1600 hours. The position is located at the Aalto University Otaniemi campus.
