A PhD fellowship is available in carbohydrate chemistry at the Department of Chemistry (DTU Chemistry). The aim of the project is to develop a new concept for coupling of unprotected monosaccharides where complexation with inexpensive metals will be employed to direct regioselective glycosylations between glycosyl donors and acceptors.
The position is available from January 1st, 2013 and will be supervised by Professor Robert Madsen. The fellowship is funded by The Danish Council for Independent Research – Natural Sciences.

Qualifications
- A master's degree in engineering or chemistry with a strong theoretical and experimental background in organic chemistry
- A strong commitment to research
- Independence and good communication skills
Applicants should have a thorough interest in organic synthesis. The studies will be carried out within the Division of Organic Chemistry, DTU Chemistry which hosts a total of 7 faculty members and approximately 40 PhD students and postdocs.
Salary and terms of employmentThe salary and appointment terms (3 years) are consistent with the current rules for PhD students.
