Job Description: Schlumberger's Abingdon Technology Centre is the centre of excellence for development of reservoir simulation software, including the widely used ECLIPSE® and Petrel® suite of products. The simulators and the supporting modelling workflow environment are developed by a team of specialists combining expertise in reservoir and petroleum engineering, fluid dynamics, numerical modelling, high-performance computing and software technology to meet the exacting requirements of major oil and gas producers around the world.

We are looking for graduate scientists / mathematical modellers to join our software development teams. Selected candidates will work closely with software engineers within the centre and with other teams worldwide. Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation, and enjoy using their expertise within a multi-disciplinary team. These are technically challenging roles with substantial autonomy, responsibility and opportunity for growth.  Significant training in petroleum engineering will be provided, with future opportunities to specialize.

Profile

• BSc or MSc in a physical science or engineering discipline, or equivalent.
• Analytic, scientific, creative and imaginative; adept at proposing and implementing novel solutions in a demanding technical environment.
• Any experience in petroleum engineering or related sciences, and/or working in a multi-platform environment (PC, Linux) would also be an advantage.
