An exciting opportunity has arisen in the School of Engineering at the University of Portsmouth for a suitably qualified individual to work on an innovative project to engineer novel intelligent audio-visual switching products for network-efficient adaptive digital media streaming over existing computer networks.
The work will involve the development of a production ready prototype system and embedding of the expertise in the company.
The project is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University and Smart-e (UK) Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of video and audio distribution systems for the commercial, residential, marine, education and leisure industries. The company pioneered the technology of transmitting high quality video and audio signals over standard Cat 5 cable and is a market leader for innovative and technically advanced products.
The project is funded by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB). The associate will work in a vibrant environment within the company supported by a team of academic and industrial supervisors with opportunities for training (including studying for a postgraduate degree) and involvement in commercialisation activities. This is a 2 year development programme that could lead to further employment with Smart-e (UK) Ltd. following the successful completion of the project.
The successful candidate will be employed by the University and based at the company in Ockley (Surrey).
Benefits include a £4,000 personal training budget and up to £2,000 per annum performance related bonus.
