Deadline: 15 Jan. 2013
We invite applications for a fully-funded, four-year doctoral studentship in the Department of Education and Special Education, University of Gothenburg
The studentship
We welcome applicants who are interested in mapping higher education students' geographical and social mobility in relation to higher education studies and transition to work. Applicants also need to have an interest in social structures such as gender and social class, and in analysing large-scale data.
The successful applicant will be part of, and supervised within, the "FUR" international research group (Prerequisites, Education, and Outcomes) http://www.ips.gu.se/english/Research/research_programmes/FUR and, more specifically, within the research project run by Caroline Berggren, PhD, and professor Anders Olofsson on "Gender and class perspectives on students' choice of higher education institutions and graduates' choice of job location". The project has received financial support from the Swedish Research Council (project no 2012-5031) and is being undertaken in cooperation with Mid Sweden University.
The student will gain competence in handling large-scale data and use a range of statistical analysis methods, methodologies that are needed within educational science. We encourage the doctoral student to become an active participant in key academic networks, to work closely with the project leaders and to present and publish work continuously and internationally. The thesis will be written in English.
