Research Associate positions Trust, Risk and Impact Modelling in Cloud Services HP UK

Research Associate, trust, risk and impact modelling. Responsible for developing models for trust in cloud services and approaches to assessing risk and impact that will allow cloud service users to better understand the potential consequences of using services in the cloud.

Researchers in HP work as part of a close-knit team and with academic and commercial partners world-wide to address key technical challenges.  They take an engineering approach to research, developing advanced prototypes and systems and deploying large scale trials and pilots of new technologies and approaches.
The research groups in HP Labs in Bristol are primarily focussed on cloud and security technologies. We are expanding our team to work on a major European project that addresses a crucial need in cloud computing - to increase confidence in cloud services by enabling cloud service users to hold cloud service providers accountable for their use of data in the cloud.
We are looking for a number of research associates to join us in researching how we can make cloud computing a trustworthy and safe environment in which individuals can participate and benefit from new services with confidence and where business can offer new and innovative cloud services.
These positions, on fixed term contracts, are an opportunity to research technologies that are at the heart of a fundamental shift in the information technology industries and gain experience of research in an industrial research lab.

Knowledge and Experience
Candidates will be interested in pursuing a research career in academia or industry, will have, or be in process of completing, a PhD in computer science or related discipline, and have an interest and research experience at graduate or post-graduate level in one or more of the following: cloud services and systems, trustworthy computing, security and data management.
Research experience in economic modelling, cloud service provision modelling, risk assessment, GRC, trust management and privacy impact assessments would be an advantage.
The successful candidates will be comfortable working with a large distributed team, delivering a wide range of results including software tools and systems, industry standards, guidelines, reports and research publications.
The ability to collaborate effectively within a team that encompasses a diverse range of skills and viewpoints is essential.
