Job assignments
The PhD student will participate in the project "Novel Antenna System Design Paradigm for Compact MIMO Terminals", which will be performed under the framework of a Senior Researcher Grant from the Swedish Research Council. The focus of this PhD project is to establish a new design paradigm that deals with two fundamental issues in achieving optimal multi-antennas for the compact terminal application context, namely 1) the interaction between the antennas and the ground plane and 2) the interaction between the antenna and the user. The project is multi-disciplinary, in that the impact of antenna design on the overall communication system performance is of interest. The work will include theoretical study on the fundamental behavior of multi-antenna terminals as well as experimental verification of the results. Close interactions with Sony Mobile Communications AB and Ericsson Research are expected in the project. In addition, the project team will also include a postdoctoral researcher who will co-supervise the student. The position is full-time, and it includes 15% departmental work, mainly in the form of teaching.Eligibility/Entry Requirements
Master of Science degree in wireless communication, electrical engineering, computer engineering, engineering physics, or equivalent.Basis of Assessment
The following criteria will be considered for evaluation of candidates: grades, self-dependent work (e.g., Master thesis), main courses in the area wireless communication, as well as oral presentation at an interview. Previous work in related areas is of merit as well as good knowledge of English.Further Information
