Finland: Doctoral student position in Speech Communication Technology

The Department of Signal Processing and Acoustics is a part of School of Electrical Engineering. The department consists of eight research groups led by its professors.
 
The speech communication technology research group (led by Prof. Paavo Alku) works on interdisciplinary topics aiming at describing, explaining and reproducing communication by speech. The main topics of our research are: analysis and parameterization of speech production, statistical parametric speech synthesis, enhancement of speech quality and intelligibility in mobile phones, robust feature extraction in speech and speaker recognition, occupational voice care and brain functions in speech perception.

The speech communication technology research group is seeking to hire a doctoral student to join their research team to work on statistical parametric speech synthesis.


Requirements
The candidate should have a master's degree in speech and language technology, signal processing or information technology (or a related field). Good programming skills (C/C++/Matlab/Python) is a must, experience in artificial neural networks, especially in deep learning, is desirable.
