UK: PhD Scholarship funded by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL)

Deadline: 30 April 2014

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in the Faculty of Computing and Engineering. Successful candidates will enrol in July 2014, or as soon as possible thereafter, on a full-time research programme of up to three years’ duration subject to satisfactory progress, leading to the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

Within the Faculty of Computing and Engineering, research in Computer Science and Informatics is carried out within the Computer Science Research Institute (CSRI), which was established in 2004 as part of Ulster’s institutional strategy to facilitate greater selectivity in research support. CSRI currently comprises 45 academic staff across the Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee campuses, together with research associates and research fellows, and approximately 100 doctoral research students. CSRI places a strong emphasis on research output quality, with research regularly being disseminated through publication in leading academic journals and conferences. Additionally, much of the research within CSRI is supported by awards from external funding bodies obtained in a highly competitive funding environment.
