DAAD Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP)
What is the aim of this new funding scheme?
As more and more PhD students apply to German graduate schools instead of contacting a supervisor for individual supervision of their research work, GSSP implements an alternative modus of application and selection:
Within the framework of the GSSP programme, scholarships are awarded in a three-stage competition and selection
procedure:
- Graduates who wish to participate apply at one of the graduate programmes listed on the GSSP website.
- Following a selection process the graduate programme submits a short list of qualified candidates to the DAAD. Additionally, the nominees have to submit an application form with supporting documentation.
- A committee at DAAD comprised of university professors makes the final decision in the selection of the scholarship awards.
As a first step, applications must be sent directly to the graduate school.
