Germany: International Max Planck Institute

Deadline: 7 March 2013

To join our school in September 2013, apply now online. Application involves three steps: first fill in the online application form, then upload your certificates, and lastly arrange for two reference letters to be submitted directly to our application system. Deadline: your application must be complete by midnight CET on 7 March 2013.

Applicants must hold, or expect to hold, a degree in natural or computer science from a Diplom, Masters or equivalent 4-year program. Your current skills and knowledge should match well to those relevant to your proposed area of doctoral research. Students from Bachelor courses at German universities should only apply if they can demonstrate extensive research experience and outstanding grades (graduating within the top 10% of their class).
All degree work must be finished by September 1, 2013 and we require the final degree certificate by December, 2013. Feel free to contact the IMPRS Coordinator for additional information.

Applicants with degrees from non-European countries must submit a GRE General Test score. Our GRE Institution Code is 4791. A TOEFL or GATE score cannot replace the GRE scores, but can be submitted in addition, if available. We consider the following as "European countries": European Union member states, Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine. In general, successful applicants have scored above 152 (above 500 for pre-2011 scores) on the verbal test and above 155 (700) on the quantitative test.
