Do you wish to obtain a PhD in cutting-edge RF hardware research?
Are you interested in working in a dynamic academic and industrial research project? 
The project ARTISAN, jointly run by the two renowned institutions Queens University Belfast and Bell Labs, offers such an opportunity. Four Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) will be funded for 3 years by the prestigious FP7 Marie Curie European Industrial Doctorate (EID) programme.
Each ESR will have to be enrolled in the three year PhD programme at QUB and will be required to spend 50% time working at QUB and the other 50% at Bell Labs. ESRs will carry out research in the framework of the project "Adaptive RF front-end for 4G communication systems and beyond" and work on one of the following topics: 
- Multiband transmitter and power amplifier architectures
- Novel materials for tunable devices
- Adaptive antennas for interference mitigation in cellular wireless networks
- Passive intermodulation in passive and tunable components and devices
Applicants must have 1st class or 2.1 Honours Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline, be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research career and have not yet been enrolled in PhD study and/or awarded the doctorate degree.
Starting dates: 2 posts start on 1 April 2013 and 2 posts start on 1 June 2013.
Anticipated interview date: Monday 18 February 2013
Salary scale: £35,005 per annum complemented by a monthly mobility allowance of up to £921
