Denmark: PhD position in Broadband Telemedicine using Video Communication

DTU Fotonik at the Technical University of Denmark has an open PhD position in Broadband Telemedicine using Video Communication.

Project summary
A challenge in the future is to provide efficient health services to an aging population. Telemedicine may provide many benefits in this endeavor. This project shall investigate the benefits of using video applications based on broadband communication systems in telemedicine. Broadband telemedicine may support and enhance interactions both between patients and doctors and between doctors and thus implies heterogeneous network structures. Broadband telemedicine with visual communication is both an application with high technical demands and potentially a beneficial societal impact. The project shall demonstrate some of the potentials and address the challenges for the communication system to facilitate high quality and highly reliable visual telemedicine services.
Supervisors
QualificationsThe candidate should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. The candidate must have the ability to work independently when planning and carrying out complicated tasks. Furthermore - good communication skills within written and spoken English.


Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
