Deadline: 15th July 2012
Nationality: Any
A PhD student position is available in the group of PD Dr. med. Erdenechimeg Günther for 3 years (TVL-E13/2). This project aims to identify the role of the immunoglobulin Fcgamma Receptor III (FcgRIII) in atherosclerosis, focusing on the role of FcgRIII interplay with complement C5a receptor in atherosclerotic vascular inflammation. Key objectives are to determine the significance of FcgRIII deficiency in atherosclerotic model in mice and identify its mode of interaction with complement C5a and other receptor systems.
The group is based at the well-established Institute for Molecular Cardiovascular Research (IMCAR), University Clinic of Aachen, Germany. Successful candidates with graduate study (MSc) in biology, pharmacy, biochemistry or biomedicine are expected to demonstrate outstanding academic performance and scientific excellence in life sciences.
Interested candidates please forward your curriculum vitae and reference letter of two referees to PD Dr. Erdenechimeg Günther at eguenther@ukaachen.de as soon as possible
