Job description

An attractive 3-year PhD position funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific research (NWO) is now being offered by Maastricht University (UM).  The project aims to use oscillatory human brain activity as a tool to investigate changes in neural communication in elderly as compared to matched, adult controls. Changes in neural communication will be investigated using visual paradigms in which effects of variations in stimulus parameters, attention and learning will be investigated.
The project will be done in a collaborative context involving Dr. O. Jensen (Donders Institute, RUN), Dr. M. Roberts (Cognitive Neuroscience Department, UM), and Dr. P. De Weerd (Cognitive Neuroscience Department, UM). The research will be carried out in Nijmegen, in the Donders Institute for Neuroimaging. The PhD candidate will be part of the Donders Graduate School of Cognitive Neuroscience, and will obtain his/her PhD in Maastricht.

Requirements

The ideal candidate would have experience with EEG/MEG, and with Matlab, and would have a general interest in the link between cognition and oscillatory brain activity, and in cognitive ageing.
A 2-year research master diploma is required to be eligible to apply.

Conditions of employment

Temporary employment for 3 years. Your salary would be € 2.042,-- gross per month in the first year up to € 2.612,-- gross per month in the last year according to the PhD-student salary scale. Each year an evaluation will take place.
