The Bio-X Graduate Fellowship Program:

The Bio-X Graduate Fellowship Program provides current Stanford graduate students whose research interests are interdisciplinary in nature with three years of funding support.To date, the Bio-X Fellowship program has provided funding for 173 graduate students. 

Graduates of the program have transitioned to successful careers in the industry sector, co-founded start-up companies, and hold professorships at Stanford and its peer institutions.The fellowships are a generous donation by the William K. Bowes Foundation while other generous donors have made the Bio-X Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellowships (SIGFs) possible. These donations are helping Stanford strengthen graduate training in interdisciplinary bio sciences, thereby spurring important new advances in science and engineering.

Mel Lane Student Grants Program:

This program offers grants for Stanford student-driven-and-managed environmental projects that make a measurable impact on sustainability issues through action or applied academic research. Preference is given to projects that focus on envinmental sustainability within one of the following topic areas: climate, ecosystem services and conservation, food security, freshwater, oceans, public health and sustainable development.Projects should involve Stanford students and provide an educational experience for students and the broader community. The Stanford Woods Institute has an annual budget of $20,000 for this program; typical grants are between $500 and $3,000. Please note that this program does not fund thesis or dissertation research or other academic requirements.
