Deadline: 5 Jan. 2014
Job description
RIKILT Wageningen UR is looking for an excellent PhD student who is excited to specialize in DNA-based screening and identification systems. The position relates to an integrated European research project Decathlon that aims to, amongst others, develop NGS screening and identification systems. The systems to be developed relate to 1) unauthorised genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and 2) plant and animal species, with emphasis on endangered species that are on the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) list.
More specific, the PhD topic concerns the development of appropriate DNA enrichment strategies to allow for subsequent detection and identification for food and feed components. As a result, part of the work will relate to NGS data analysis protocols together with the international Task Force Bioinformatics that is also embedded in the Decathlon project.
