Denmark: Two PhD Fellowships in Ubiquitin Signaling Group at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center

Two PhD Fellowships in Ubiquitin Signaling Group, Department of Disease Biology at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (www.cpr.ku.dk ), University of Copenhagen.

Project
The Ubiquitin Signaling Group is offering PhD stipends to two highly motivated and ambitious candidates. The projects will focus on site-specific protein ubiquitylation, the cellular response to DNA damage, and various aspects of disease biology. The PhD students will benefit from in-house expertise in proteomics and bioinformatics for identifying new targets of protein ubiquitylation, and use state-of-the-art biochemical, immunochemical, and microscopic techniques for the detailed study of key proteins that are regulated by this modification. The precise content of the projects will be decided upon discussions with the selected candidates.
Start date will be April-June 2013.

Qualifications
  • A master´s degree in a relevant biological area.
  • Experience with methods in molecular biology, such as PCR and cloning.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with immunochemical techniques is considered an advantage (e.g. Western blot, IP, immunostaining)
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Open-minded and enthusiastic personality with good collaboration skills.

Terms of salary and employment
The appointment as PhD fellow is for 3 years. It is conditioned upon the candidates´ successful enrolment in a PhD programme.
The PhD study must be completed in accordance with the ministerial orders from the Ministry of Education on the PhD degree and the University´s rules on achieving the degree.

Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Depending on seniority, the monthly salary begins around 25.300 DKK (ca. 3.400 EUR) plus pension.
