Job description
The PhD candidate will
contribute in a research project that focuses on antigen cross
presentation. This process is still poorly understood and hotly debated.
Therefore, the research team is developing new research tools to study
this phenomenon and determine its actual impact on vaccine efficiency.
Tasks:The PhD candidate will conduct original research in this research project under the supervision of dr. S.I. van Kasteren. You will write a dissertation and a series of co-authored articles in international, peer-reviewed journals, toward fulfillment of requirements for the PhD degree. The PhD candidate will also contribute to the organization of and participate in activities of the project, e.g. public lectures, seminars, and international conferences.

Requirements
We
are looking for a PhD candidate with a Master’s degree in chemistry,
cell biology or immunology that is willing to look beyond the boundaries
of their particular fields. The techniques used in this project range
from organic synthesis to in vivo assays, and training will be provided
in unfamiliar techniques.
The project is based on extensive collaboration with groups at the Nederlands Kanker Instituut and inGermany,ScotlandandPortugal. Because of that, good collaborative skills are essential.
