JOB PURPOSE:
To be an active member of the research project/team characterising the DNA fragmentation and DNA adducts of sperm from fertile
and infertile men and relating these to chromatin classification and assisted conception outcomes.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Research:
1. To work as part of the Reproductive Medicine research group to develop and undertake research under supervision within this
specific research project.
2. To ensure adherence to project milestones and be responsible for regular production of progress reports.
3. Carry out analyses, critical evaluations, and interpretations using methodologies and other techniques appropriate to area of
research.
4. Present regular progress reports on research to members of the research group or to external audiences to disseminate and
publicise research findings.
5. To prepare manuscripts based on the results of this work as appropriate for submission to peer review journals.
6. To present work as appropriate at local, national and international conferences.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
1. Masters degree in biological or biomedical science (MSc).
2. 3 years’ recent relevant experience of human reproduction or other relevant research.
3. Experience of qualitative research methods.
4. Ability to contribute to broader management and administrative processes.
5. Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within
established research programme.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Evidence of ability to write reports and meet deadlines.
8. Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
9. Ability to build contacts and participate in internal and external networks.
10. Demonstrable intellectual ability.
11. Ability to assess and organise resources.
12. Willingness to travel between research centres in Belfast and Barcelona.
