University of Luxembourg -Laboratory for photovoltaics
The University of Luxembourg is a multilingual, international research University. The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy in the Laboratory for photovoltaics in the frame of a Marie Curie Initial Training Network funded by the EU.
The Laboratory for Photovoltaics develops novel thin film solar cells, which are more cost efficient than conventional solar cells because they need less material and energy for their production. The successful candidate will work on the growth and the optical characterisation of kesterite thin films.

The PhD student will be a member of the Physics and Material Science research unit within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication at the University of Luxembourg. He/she will work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Siebentritt.
Activities
- Characterise the electrical and optical properties of kesterite thin films
- Prepare epitaxial kesterite thin films
- Present the results at international conferences and high impact journals
- Write a thesis, aiming at obtaining a doctoral degree in Physics
Profile
- Master's degree or diploma in Physics (or equivalent) with very good grades
- Good background in solid state Physics
- Self-motivated, committed and curious
- Creative and able to think independently
- Excellent command of English
