Innovative knowledge developed in natural science faculties can have an important impact on economy and society. Partly, valorization of such knowledge is through entrepreneurial activities. The natural sciences can also benefit from interaction with society and the economy. Yet, the potential 2-directional interaction may not happen despite the projected benefits. Within these confines the PhD candidate will analyze what hampers such 2-directional exchange that potentially benefits both sides, will study such interactions and will provide advice to science, science education and to policy makers to improve upon the process of knowledge exchange between the two domains.

Functie-eisen/Eligibility
The successful applicant for this PhD position needs to have a (research) Master degree in the field of business, economics and technology and have proven affinity with the natural sciences, or vice versa.Arbeidsvoorwaarden/Salary
The University of Groningen offers a minimum salary of € 2,042 gross a month in the first year to a maximum of € 2,612 a month in the final year, based on a full-time position (1.0 fte). The position is limited to a period of 4 years. The first year constitutes a probationary period, with an evaluation of the candidate's performance after the first year. The objective of this evaluation is to establish whether the candidate will be able to finish a PhD thesis in the remaining three years. If the performance evaluation is positive, the candidate's contract will be extended by another 3 years, for a total of 4 years.How to apply:
